Synopsis: When thinking about the impact of environmental toxins, we must also consider how our body responds to exposures. The gastrointestinal tract in on the front line of environmental exposures and can impact the amount and form of toxic exposures that enters the body. In this talk, we will review the role of the microbiome, intestinal permeability, and transit time on the exosome. We will also review treatments targeted on the gastrointestinal system that may help reduce the chronic body burden of environmental toxins.
